1989 is the beginning of Artica project; the origins are connected to Dark, Cold Wave and Gothic-Rock music.
The evolution towards the true musical identity took some years. The very first expression in February 1993 was the release of demo-tape Marea featuring 8 tracks with Italian lyrics. Positive responses came from Italy, France, Germany and England.

Eventually in 1993 several recordings were released in compilations attracting the interest of Olivier Paccaud (Lucie Cries - Alea Jacta Est). The outfit appeared for the first time on a CD support for Alea Jacta Est sampler “l'Appel De La Muse, vol. IV”, with a mix of the track ‘Preghiera’.

After the release of the second demo-tape, “Dahlia” in February 1994, the interest for the band increased in Italy and across Europe.
The number of the participations amplified the band recognition in ambitious compilations such as `Gothic-Rock II' (Jungle Records) and `Death by Dawn 2 - The Avenger' (Apollyon Records).Eventually in 1994, Mick Mercer included Artica in the third “Gothic-Rock book” and afterwards “gothic monsters” such as Bari-Bari (Mephisto Walz), Mike Van Portfleet (Lycia/ Bleak), GodKrist (Madre Del Vizio), Patrick Hendrix (The Breath Of Life), Dave (Vendemmian) wrote positive reviews. Thanks to Jörg Kleudgen (The House Of Usher) Artica's music attracted the attention of Joelen Mingi (Angina Pectoris) manager of the German label Nyctalopia: in May 1995 the first album CD `Ombra e Luce' was finally released, featuring 12 tracks (partly taken from the two previous demos and partly new).

In April 1996 the band refused a new contract with Nyctalopia and began a new recording session for the forthcoming CD entitled `Natura', produced in July 1997 by the Italian label Radio Luxor.
During “Natura” release, the English label Euromedia produced the new Mick Mercer's compilation The Hex Files vol. 2 - The Goth Bible” where the band is featured with the new track `Lucrezia'.
After one year Radio Luxor prepared a tribute to Virgin Prunes and Artica appeared with a very personal cover of "Caucasian Walk".

The group took a break for the next years and only in April 1999 with the collaboration of Decadance Records a new album ‘Plastic Terror’ was released.
The lyrics are mainly in English; this brand new and suffered CD is actually the very best expression of 16 years of music: still Gothic, still Rock.
